Soldo - How many of those names you listed were genuinely fast, didn't get injured a lot and were from 20, 30 or 40 years ago?

You seem to have shifted your argument somewhat.

Re: 2nd test v Sri Lanka from Durham
In the North in May and early June : 110 wickets at 20 (Ryan Harrisesque)
On the Planet (excluding the above) : 340 wickets at 31 (maybe a slow tippy tappy version of Brett Lee)

Of course, James ANDERSON used to be a fair bit quicker in his younger days until Australian MOLE Troy Cooley broke his back trying to remodel his action for no reason.

Luckily, he was good enough to reinvent himself and become the best bowler on the planet.

Pat LOLmins and mammoth fist Pattinson won't be doing similar

From Snow's era I can recall Ken Higgs, Jeff Jones and Alan Ward who careers were ruined by injury

Re: 2nd test v Sri Lanka from Durham
A lot of these players suffered from knee injuries which is understandable given the stress of landing on your front leg (or trying to slide on the Gabba outfield like Simon Jones) as well as the ones that suffered stress fractures of the back.
I guess the surprise with modern biomechanics analysis and medical treatment is that it appears that more bowlers suffer these days.
Whether that's actually true or just perception I don't know.

Just know it would have been nice to have Ryan Harris, Patrick Cummins & James Pattinson fit to play over the last couple of years.

I'd say Goughie was a genuine quick and he suffered a bit.

John Snow was fairly quick about that time

'What about 20, 30,40 years ago then??'

iirc, we hardly had any genuine quickies during that era and those that we did have were so mediocre that their demise from injury is less than memorable. The only two genuine quicks we had during that time that were any cop and remained relatively injury-free were Willis and Dilley.

I see the ICC have admitted fixing the draw for their tournaments so that India and Pakistan are in the same group.

Now there's a surprise.

Might have got his 2013 & 2013/14 Ashes bowling average below 19 with that advice.

Yeah granted Cough... although how many Ashes tour did he do.... pretty sure they played 8 ball overs in Oz, NZ etc

Far Cough 10:59 Wed Jun 1
Re: 2nd test v Sri Lanka from Durham
Soldinho, we haven't had 8 ball overs since 1945, Trueman debuted in 1949
